"You came to the wrong city. Did you not know that Meta Man resides here?!"
—Meta Man, in LEGO The Incredibles.

Meta Man was a Super from The Incredibles. Known for possessing a host of different powers, he was very committed to his work as a superhero and was described as indecisive. Not much is known about his death, other than the fact that he died due to a suit malfunction.

Biography[]

"I hope I’ve done enough for the citizens to cherish me. I just love saving people so much!"
—Meta Man, in LEGO The Incredibles.

As a close friend of the pair, Meta Man appeared as a guest at Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl's wedding. He was seated alongside Thunderhead, Stratogale, Dynaguy, Gazerbeam, Frozone, Edna Mode and Rick Dicker, celebrating once the two were married.

He was known to be a rival of Baron Von Ruthless, with his agency voice recordings later being stolen during a surprise attack by the supervillain.

He had been put under NSA review as the leader of "Meta Group", which would task him with overseeing the actions of every other superhero team in existence.

For all his great power, Meta Man was still one of several Supers to suffer a “suit malfunction,” dying when his cape snagged on an elevator shaft while he was lifting an express elevator to safety. The tale of his death was later recounted by Edna Mode, who had presumably designed his super-suit.

Personality[]

As a Super, Meta Man was labelled as indecisive, though he was also compassionate and deeply committed to his hero work. He seemed to care about whether or not the citizens he protected celebrated him, and often wondered if he had done enough for them. He also frequently referred to himself in the third-person.

Appearance[]

Meta Man was a tall, muscular man with blue eyes and curly blond hair. He wore a red super-suit with blue sleeves, boots and a mask, with the golden letters “MM” emblazoned on the chest. Additionally, Meta Man often donned a blue cape, but was also known to possess red and gold variants. In the image for his NSA file, he was depicted wearing a pair of metallic wristguards.

Powers and Abilities[]

"Meta Man is always victorious!"
—Meta Man, in LEGO The Incredibles.
"I can’t hold that up! Who do you think I am? Meta Man?"
—Frozone, in LEGO The Incredibles.

Meta Man was one of the few supers that had a very lengthy list of powers. This likely made him one of the greatest heroes to have ever lived. Even Mr. Incredible appeared to hold him in reverence, referring to him as “the mighty Meta Man.”

Powers[]

  • Flight: Meta Man was capable of flying at high speeds.
  • Super Strength: Meta Man possessed superhuman strength, to a greater degree than other similarly-powered Supers, such as Stratogale. He is able to slam into the ground so hard it destroys nearby vehicles and is strong enough to to pull and push heavy objects.
    • Superhuman Agility: As shown on his NSA file, Meta Man possessed high levels of agility, to a level matching that of Mr. Incredible's. This was likely a result of his Super Strength. His superhumanly strong muscles could allow him to move and perform feats of great agility that a normal person could never achieve.
    • Superhuman Endurance: As shown on his NSA file, Meta Man also possessed a superhuman degree of endurance and stamina. He was capable of engaging in heavy feats of strength and combative endeavours for lengthy durations without tiring readily.
  • Teleportation: Much like Voyd and Downburst, Meta Man could teleport to unknown distances. However, his power differentiated in that he could teleport at will, as opposed to needing to create a portal.
  • Partial Invisibility: Like Violet, Meta Man could turn himself partially invisible, making it harder for enemies to spot him.
  • Sonic Scream: Similar to the Phylange and Vectress, Meta Man could unleash a high-powered scream, capable of incapacitating multiple enemies at once, shattering glass and destroying nearby objects.
  • Magnetic Manipulation: By controlling magnetic fields, Meta Man could bend, move and crush virtually any metallic substance, or manipulate anything containing metal.
  • X-Ray Vision: Similar to Peeping Tom, Meta Man could see through most objects and walls.
  • Aquatic Mammal Communication: Meta Man could communicate with all forms of aquatic mammal, including Whales, Seals and Dolphins.
  • Superhuman Durability: Like other “near-invulnerable” Supers, Meta Man appeared to be immune to most forms of damage, shrugging off enemy bullets, knives and fists. He could also move unharmed through various hazardous environments, such as raging fires, lava pools and toxic chemical spills. In LEGO The Incredibles, he is able to survive all offensive superpowers, including Gamma Jack's radiation bursts and Universal Man's molecular blasts, suggesting he was immune to radiation and molecular energy. However, this could simply be due to his "Immunity" ability.

Weakness[]

  • Durability Limit: While Meta Man was highly resistant to damage, he possibly had either a weak spot or an upper limit to his durability, as he ultimately died due to a suit malfunction. However, the specific cause of his death remains unknown.

Abilities[]

  • Leadership: Meta Man had been placed under review to lead the “Meta Group,” overseeing every other Super team in existence.

Trivia[]

  • Meta Man appears to be inspired by DC Comics hero, Superman. Like Superman, Meta Man wears an oversized single letter emblem and has a wide variety of powers including flight, x-ray vision and incredible strength. Also, in the DC universe, people who possess superpowers are known as “Metahumans.”
  • Furthermore, he possesses powers commonly attributed to characters from the X-Men Comics, such as Magneto (Magnetic Manipulation), Nightcrawler (Teleportation) and Black Canary (Sonic Scream).
  • Ironically, in LEGO The Incredibles, Meta Man has the power of “Immunity,” making him immune to virtually all types of damage. This may hint that he had an Achilles’ Heel (or rather "Neck") which caused him to die in the elevator shaft. His other powers, such as Teleportation, Magnetic Manipulation and Invisibility cannot be used in-game. He is, however, able to use his Sonic Scream as a power attack,
