Baron von Ruthless is an unseen villain mentioned in The Incredibles and the sworn enemy of the Meta Man.
The Incredibles[]
Baron von Ruthless is discussed in a conversation between Bob and Lucius, where they laugh about his tendency to monologue.
His rivals included Meta Man (whose agency voice recording was confiscated by von Ruthless) and Frozone, who he at one point captured and threatened with a death ray before proceeding to monologue excessively.
Incredibles 2: Bedtime Story[]
- "Fools! Haven’t you figured it out yet? My Mayhem Machine’s ray neutralized your super abilities. You’re powerless! How careless of you all to gather in one place like this. But it does make destroying you that much easier!"

Baron von Ruthless was later recounted by Bob Parr while telling bedtime stories to his children, based on the Glory Days of the Supers. He told the tale of how von Ruthless had created a giant robotic suit, the Mayhem Machine, which could negate a hero’s superpowers. He unleashed his newly forged weapon upon an NSA seminar where hundreds of Supers had gathered. Here, he hoped to destroy all of them.
Everyone - from the mighty Meta Man himself to the inexperienced Junior Sidekick - found themselves powerless before the hulking robot and its evil pilot. It looked as though the era of superheroes was over…
However, Mr. Incredible had been one of the few Supers to avoid the suit’s de-powering effects, having previously stepped out of the seminar with Elastigirl. Seeing his fellow heroes in trouble, the pair rushed to aid them.
While Mr. Incredible distracted a monologuing von Ruthless, Elastigirl appeared behind the Mayhem Machine and used her powers to stretch into its body, damaging its internal mechanisms. Von Ruthless was soon defeated, his robotic suit destroyed by a single punch from Mr. Incredible. Later, as the gathered heroes celebrated their efforts, Bob realised that he wanted to marry Helen…
Abilities[]
Von Ruthless was a genius when it came to the creation of robotics and weaponry, his greatest invention being a robotic suit known as the Mayhem Machine, which could strip a Super of their powers. However, his weakness was that he had a tendency to boast about his creations, monologuing excessively even if it was to his own detriment.
Trivia[]
- Although he wasn't seen in the film, a mini version of him appears in Disney Infinity. His dialogue is limited to various forms of evil laughter.
