Syndrome's remote is a device used by Syndrome to ensure he has control of the Omnidroids, in spite of their artificial intelligence. The remote contained several functions that have an effect on whichever Omnidroid it was programmed to, including stopping it, detaching one or more of its limbs, and firing its claws.
Role in The Incredibles[]
Syndrome is first seen wearing the remote when he announces himself to Mr. Incredible, using the remote to stop the Omnidroid v.X9 from killing the Super. He uses the remote to drop Mr. Incredible, and then uses his zero-point energy to fling him around the area.
When enacting Phase 3 of Operation Kronos, Syndrome uses the remote to tame the Omnidroid v.10 as it is wreaking havoc in Metroville. This is designed to make him look like a genuine Super to gain public adoration. However, the robot detects that it is being controlled by the remote and promptly shoots it off of Syndrome's arm with its laser blaster. The remote falls to the ground, and Syndrome loses control of his flight due to one of his rocket boots being blasted, and crashes into a building.
Later, when the Incredibles and Frozone arrive, Mr. Incredible finds the remote and realizes they can use it. The Omnidroid sees that Mr. Incredible has it and tries to keep him from it. Dash picks it up and uses his super speed to evade the Omnidroid. Frozone gives Dash a piggy back ride and uses ice to skate across the lake. Dash falls of Frozone and slides into some of Frozone's ice, but loses the remote. Mr. Incredible tries grabbing it but the Omnidroid launches one of it's claws at him just before he can pick it up. An invisible Violet gets the remote and tries to use it. As the Omnidroid got closer, she pressed a button that activated the Omnidroid's rockets. It flew past everyone and crashed into a building.
As everyone tries to figure out how to use the remote, Mr. Incredible picks up the claw. Then, Violet presses a button that activated the claw's rocket. Elastigirl takes the remote while Frozone buys them some time. She accidentally deactivates the rocket, then Mr. Incredible gets an idea. He tells her to activate the rocket again. Elastigirl waits a little while because it will be easier to aim if the Omnidroid is closer. When the Omnidroid is close enough, Elastigirl presses the button and Mr. Incredible lets go of the claw. The claw flies through the Omnidroid, and it falls over into the lake, and then explodes. It is unknown as to what happens to the remote afterwards.
